Is the MLS really damaging Beckham?

That is what claims ex-David BeckhamEngland boss Steve McClaren. “America is damaging Beckham,” he says. Yes, the guy who could not take England to EURO 2008 and lost his job shortly after. But then again, I also do not think it was a particularly smart move on Beckham (football-wise) to come play for the MLS. But to say that Beckham’s shape is entirely MLS’ fault is bollocks even though I really don’t think the LA Galaxy has any say on Beckham’s life at all, and that’s where they have a piece of the fault pie.

According to McClaren, “David has gone from Real Madrid to a club in America where the sport is still at its beginnings”

“The MLS is developing but it’s not of the standard required for international football. I know David will keep himself fit, but it’s going to be very difficult for him to continue playing for England.”

David should know that. It is, in fact true. But MLS is not to be blamed. Beckham is.
