End of Story: Rooney stays at Manchester United (thus will not die)

The last chapter of the Rooney – Man U soap opera has ended today. The English forward has renewed his contract with the Devils until 2015. The reason, he says, is because of Alex Ferguson’s support (not because he does not wish to die as some Man United fans tend to believe). Those who love to bet on sports probably lost their cash – the man is going nowhere.

Last Wednesday, Rooney sent out a little note saying he spoke with the executive person at Man United – David Gill – about a possible contract renewal. However, the club’s lack of ambition to hire high level footballers was standing in the way. The attitude did not make his teammates really please and the Red Devil’s fans got a little uncomfortable as well – thus the support message in Nike’s ad.

Rooney got to Manchester un 2004, when he was just 19, after a 25.6 million pounds transfer. He is indeed Man United’s biggest star but has not had a glorious year so far – from playing a shitty World Cup to hitting the tabloids after getting caught with hookers (Coleen, his wife, has forgiven him. After all, that is what footballers do, innit?) to not getting a lot of playing time due to injuries.

No more drama please. Let’s get back to football.
