Robinho to AC Milan: the start of something?

Today AC Milan announced its newest footballer: Brazilian forward star Robinho. AC Milan’s big boss, Silvio Berlusconi, was not shy to give away that Milan signed the player for €18 million (when in fact, Manchester City bought him for €40 million from Real Madrid – talk about a bad investment, Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan!).

Robinho is delighted. And so he should be.

Milan is seen with better eyes and he will get to hang out with Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato and Thiago Silva. If that is good or bad influence time will quickly tell. What we can expect however:

1. A bit more “joga bonito” – Robinho and Ronaldinho tend to work quite well and creatively together.
2. Happy tabloids – with a single Ronaldinho, a recently divorced Pato and a known-for-loving-a-good-partywomen Robinho, the tabloids will have plenty to report on.

Robinho was AC Milan’s second heavy signee for this season. Ibrahimovic, which in my opinion, was a stronger deal, has arrived from Barcelona and is on loan for one year, with the option of being sold for another 4 years for €24 million.

The bottom line is: this is an great opportunity. The Santos’ boy has always talked about being the best out there and in Milan he will have the support to do so – if he wants to. This will be definitely interesting to follow.
