The influence of TV Globo on Brazilian football is huge. Way bigger than it should be. With the state championships, Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores taking place, the channel shapes the schedules of the matches as it pleases. Everything done so that the matches fills its paid sports channel (Sportv) and also so that matches do not conflict with key TV shows (like telenovelas) from TV Globo.
With all that in mind, matches have been scheduled in 25 different times so far! They took place at 10 am, 11 am , 3 pm, 3:30 pm, 3:50 pm, 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm, 6:10pm, 6:30pm, 7pm, 7:10pm, 8pm, 8:15pm, 8:30pm, 8:45pm, 9pm, 9:15pm, 9:30pm, 9:45pm, 9:50pm, 10pm and 10:30pm.
This weekend, with Brazil playing, there are, for instance, matches scheduled in 12 different times. There will be games at 3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:10pm, 5pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm, 7:10pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm and 9:10pm.
This shows a complete lack of respect with fans. But CBF does not care. And the clubs can do very little since they own huge debst to Globo. Of course, the channel could not care less. All that matters is treating football like regular TV shows. This is the country that wants to organize a World Cup. Shame.
