Not a lucky day for Cannavaro.

Cannavaro injuredWhile I’ve been having a fabulous sunny day, others are not so lucky. On the first day of training, Italy’s back man, Fabio Cannavaro, got his left ankle injured and might be out of EURO 2008. What got the man down is named Chiellini, just 40 minutes after practice had started. What got everybody worried is that after doctors entered the pitch to examine Fabio, he went directly to the hospital.

Some possibilities: a strong sprained ankle which would be less bad, or a broken ankle, which would be super bad. But hte final answer will come tomorrow after the ankle becomes less chubby (!) and doctors can actually see what’s going on.

Staying out of a big championship is not a lot of fun. Specially when you are already in, already practicing, already feeling you will be able to hit the pitch and do what you do best.

Cannavaro is the third one to get unlucky right before EURO 2008. Babel, Liverpool’s defender, got a serious injury and had to say bye-bye to EURO 2008. The second one was posh boy C. Ronaldo, who was dancing like a ballerina left practice with pain in the ankles, but is unlikely to leave the competition.

I really do wish Cannavaro gets out of this one. He can show beautiful football to EURO 2008. If he does not, however, AC Milan’s defender, Bonero, is set to be the replacement.

Ah le football …..
