EURO 2008 Results – June 17th. Bye bye Romania and France.

Another bye-bye-time-to-go-home day at EURO 2008. Only the Netherlands was 100% qualified to the quarter finals. Romania needed at least a tie or victory to get into the next phase. Italy and France, repeating 2006 World Cup’s final, needed a victory and Romania to lose in order to qualify. And to make me a little happy, the Italians kept the tradition of beating France (I have to go against the French in football since they manage to kick Brazil’s behind everytime we face them — but I do love Paris!). Results after the jump.
Netherlands 1 – 0 Romania – tough love for the brave Romanians. Persie and Huntelaar scored for the Dutch to keep the Oranje machine running strong. The Italians also say thank you.
France 0 – 2 Italy – Maybe it was the Azzurri’s white uniform, maybe not. Italy played strong and took the opportunity they had. Pirlo scored the first on a penalty (Luca Toni’s credit there) and De Rossi took the little help of Henry’s foot to capitalize the second goal. Italy runs up to the quarters. France says arrevoir.
