Owen injured. England gets into a tougher situation.

Michael OwenEngland is in a tough spot, no news there. But while the Three Lions won 1-0 the friendly against Austria, McClaren’s squad has yet another problem: Michael Owen got injured and will not face Croatia on the 21st. Now everyone (who’s English) is hoping for at least a draw between Russia and Israel and praying that Crouch will take care of business on the EURO 2008 Qualifier match. Oh la la, best of British to the Three Lions.

Let’s say Russia does lose or tie with Israel. The English squad, even without Rooney and Owen, has enough skill to beat Croatia. Problem is, morale is down and the momentum is gone. This victory against Austria, which was supposed to pump England up, is actually pumping them down.

Owen’s injury is, in McClaren’s words, “a massive blown.” Not so exciting innit?

Not only that, but the British team will also not be able to count on Rio Ferdinand, due to a suspension, and John Terry is also out, with a knee injury. Both players are strong at the center back and this is where a second gap will appear.

Can England get out of this situation?
