Germany is not alone, Greece, Romania and Czech Republic have now joined hosts Austria and Switzerland and qualified for EURO 2008. The Czechs had a great 3×0 win over already qualified Germany, while Greece beat Turkey in Istanbul is a tense match. But the day goes to the dramatic Russian victory over England with 2 goals from substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko (England’s goal was and amazing volley by Rooney). The first Russian goal, however, was scored on a penalty that was really not a penalty as Rooney tripped on Zyrianov outside of the box.

England’s momentum was gone.

The loss not only did not qualify the Three Lions but also took down Croatia, who now have to wait for the next round for a possible decision. If Russia wins the next 2 matches, they qualify even if England defeats Croatia.
