England is winning the injury race.

It seems like it’s getting hard for England to have a full squad for the EURO 08 qualifiers. Every match there is an injury and speculations about the starting squad. After Gerrard, Crouch and Beckham, now it is the time for Owen to sit out. The English striker will miss the match against Estonia, at Wembley, on October 13th, due to a torn groin muscle.
Owen will have to stay out of the pitch for 3 weeks. On top of that, the Newcastle United player might need a hernia operation which would keep him away for another 2 months. The situation isn’t looking too good for Owen or England.
Another injured footballer is Norway’s striker John Carew, who is expected to be out for the next 6 weeks after suffering a knee ligament injury during Aston Villa FC’s 2-0 win against Everton FC on Sunday. He will now miss the game at Bosnia-Herzegovina, on October 17th.
The winner injury, however, was Jorge Andrade’s. The Juventus center-back is out of all the remaining Portugal’s EURO 2008 Qualifier matches (joining coach Big Phil), after fracturing his left kneecap during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with AS Roma. Portugal will face Azerbaijan on October 13th, in desperate need of a victory.
