Redknapp: Spurs not in the hunt for Tevez

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp insists he is not looking to bring unsettled Man City striker Carlos Tevez to White Hart Lane, because they wouldn’t be able to afford his wages.
Tevez appears on the verge of leaving the Etihad Stadium after being handed a two week suspension and two week’s wages fine for apparently refusing to come on as a substitute in City’s 2-0 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.
Brazilian club Corinthians have reiterated their desire to bring the Argentinian to the club after a failed bid this summer, with club president Andreas Sanchez confident of securing his wages for a reduced fee of around £18 million.
Redknapp admits he is an admirer of the forward’s talents but says there is no chance of Tevez pulling on New Football Shirts with a Spurs badge on because of the financial obstacles in the way.
“Would I like him? Yes,” he explained. “Anyone would like him. He is a fantastic player.
“He is an amazing player. When he plays no one gives more than he does. He works his socks off, he runs, he chases, he plays, he tackles and he scores goals.
“He is the full package when he plays so I don’t think there are too many teams who wouldn’t like him.
“Affording him is a different matter. That’s the problem. We couldn’t afford him really.” He added.
Spurs currently have Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor on loan and are keen to capture the Togolese forward on a permanent basis, but Redknapp has previously admitted that the player would have to take a “massive” wage drop in order to facilitate a move.
