FA Cup draw wide open?

When the two Manchester clubs were drawn together in the FA Cup third round, it opened the door to other clubs with aspirations of lifting the famous old trophy.

One of the best two sides in England at this present time will be out of the FA Cup and that opens the competition up to the rest. The chance of glory for the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham increased when the third round draw was made – not least because they were given favourable draws themselves. Arsenal face a relatively tough tie at home to Leeds United. People looking at the best online FA Cup betting should remember this.

For Arsenal, the FA Cup represents a realistic opportunity to win silverware for the first time since 2005. They have it all to do in the Premier League and will find it difficult to get past the Spanish giants in the Champions League. Arsenal fans are desperate for glory and will be keen for Arsene Wenger to give the competition its due attention this year.

Liverpool are still alive in the Carling Cup, but the club’s fans would love a run in the FA Cup, particularly after their third-round exit last season. Andres Villa-Boas will be keen to win a trophy to silence his critics, while Spurs will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 1991.

Newcastle United are a good bet to go all the way in the competition. They have performed admirably in the Premier League this season and don’t have the distractions that the other top sides have. Newcastle could well be this season’s dark horses.
