Barton ends Newcastle feud

Controversial QPR midfielder Joey Barton has finally ended his war of words with former club Newcastle United.
Those looking at Premiership predictions note how Toon boss manager Alan Pardew criticised Barton this week for comments he made about the St James’ Park hierarchy.
And with the vital Premier League clash with Chelsea coming up this weekend, negative publicity is the last thing needed at Newcastle, and to be fair at any club.
“Unfortunately Joey’s comments take away the positive nature of what we are doing here – it is a bit frustrating,” Pardew said.
“I keep asking myself why? Why does he keep cropping up? Anybody who takes that limelight away from my players, I’m not particularly keen on, if I’m honest.”
But instead of rising to the bait, Barton has called a truce via social networking site Twitter. “Pardew’s a good man and manager, I agree with what he has said. Time to keep my peace.”
The 29-year-old moved to QPR in August after he was placed on the transfer list following an outburst on Twitter in which he criticised the Magpies board.
He has since hit out against the regime of owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias and he made further comments in an interview this week, all of which prompted Llambias to contact club lawyers.
But by calling an end to the feud, those looking at bookmaker free bets believe that Barton clearly wants to get his head down and concentrate on football and the huge task in hand at Loftus Road – keeping the club in the Premier League.
Having left Manchester City and now Newcastle, the Liverpudlian will be keen to put down some roots in the capital and you just get the feeling that Neil Warnock could just be the man to get the best out of him.
Whether we’ll see the end of the negative headlines, only time will tell.
