McLeish quits Scotland for money. Who doesn’t these days?

Even though Scotland failed to qualify for EURO 2008, the Tartan Army left the tournament as heroes. Manager Alex McLeish was among them and what looked like a very interesting World Cup Qualifiers for the Scots, is now generating a bit of uncertainty after his resignation from the job. We cried, we laughed and once again we cried seeing Scotland fall to Italy on November 17th. But people leave jobs for (3 times) bigger opportunities ($) and that’s life.

What were English players doing before the key EURO 08 Qualifiers match?

Some players take good rest and eat well before important games, others chose to party after the matches, but when it comes to England, the players like to take their booze just before important EURO qualifiers matches. According the the fabulous News of the World, the Three Lions had a crazy night at Soho’s The Wardour club on October 27. Alright, they had plenty of time to recover (Englands next match was on November 16th) so leave those players alone and go blame the loss to Croatia on something else. What we can point out is that the players did, indeed, act in a way that would get Lindsey Lohan jealous.

What now England? What’s English football to do?

BBC 606 gives a chance for fans to deliver what they want. England’s disaster has been causing lots of people to work their brains and try to understand what went wrong. What did went wrong? Sort of difficult to say as there were many, many factors. While searching for some answers myself, and reading what some people have been saying, I stumbled upon this great article by a fan, Robbo Robson, to English football. The opening line says a lot: “Are there any excuses? Some mild ones maybe”

EURO 2008 Qualifiers - Who’s in and who’s out.

Alright, that’s it folks, those who got their points are in and others didn’t. The big upset of the day was of course, England. Croatia 3, in; England 2, out. Turkey and Sweden also secured their place in the finals with nice victories. And Russia, who benefited from England’s loss, has also booked their tickets with a win over Andorra. Pack your smurfs, we’ll see your faces in June 2008.

England will not travel to EURO 2008. End of story.

The romance has been long. England wasted their matches and got to the point where destiny was in the hands of Israel. Brave Israel gave England (and McClaren) the chance for redemption but the Three Lions did not make it happen. Tragic end, England is not going to EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. On a soaked Wembley, McClaren’s poor choices showed on the pitch as a superb Croatian squad proved to be a force in world football.

Who should start for England?

Reborn England will face Croatia tomorrow and it is redemption time for Steve McClaren. If England qualifies, he’s done his job. All teh Three Lions need is a tie to pack their smurfs to Austria and Switzerland. With injuries allover (Rooney and Owen are out) who should be at the pitch at this decisive match? Yay! Another exciting day for football. Wednesday will host some pretty exciting games. This is it folks, there are few matches to go and some happ squads are still to join the 12 countries who have already qualified. At the hype of group E, England is at the center of attention as Steve McClare’s team will need at least a tie against Croatia in order to qualify.

Another emotional Saturday in our football lives, as we approach the last round of the qualifying games for the EURO 2008, in Austria and Switzerland. From the brave Scots to the Israeli heroes, other teams also had impressive results. Now 6 new teams have also secured their tickets to the finals in June 08. 12 places already taken, let’s have a look at the results.
