The expected happened. Brazil easily beat newcomers Mexico and holds the title for the second consecutive year. In a beautiful game on the sands of Copacabana, Mexico could not even be said to have lost. The Mexicans made history after joining the Beach Soccer World Cup for the first time and reaching the finals.

Barthez goes from grass to sand.

It is very likely that Fabien Barthez will be the new goalie for the Beach Soccer French team. One of the finest of all, Barthez has been contacted by assistant coach Henri Emile. With an amazing career on classic football, I believe Barthez would make a fine addition to the French Beach Soccer squad. And after a retirement, a comeback and a second retirement, beach soccer looks like a good place for comeback #2.

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: Brazil vs. Mexico in the final.

The beach in Copacabana experienced, today, two beautiful matches. Mexico, the newcomer, beat favorites Uruguay and is now in the final to face Brazil, who won 6×2 against France. I have to say that winning a match against France is getting close to winning against Argentina (in classic football Brazil hasn’t been able to win a match against France since 1986). But back to Beach Soccer, and now that France is no longer an issue, Rio should experience a nice final tomorrow.

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup has been going on in Rio since November 2nd. As one of the most beautiful footy events, the games in Rio have been full of amazing goals and plays. Beach soccer is the place where you will see the most bicycle kick goals ever and that, by itself, is a great reason to look for the games on TV. Let’s take a closer look at the quarter-final matches.
