It was a happy day for us Brazilians. 8 years ago, during the Sydney Olympics, Brazil went home earlier because of a loss to Cameroon. Today was payback time! In a tense match, Brazil was only able to score during overtime, with Rafael Sobis and Marcelo, sending all the Cameroonian attitude home. But all the excitement today needs to turn into huge focus. Next Tuesday, Brazil will face all time rivals Argentina, and I believe that will be an even more tense match! Messi has been amazing on the pitch, and if Brazil has the same horrible Ronaldinho we had today, we better give Pato or someone else a chance.

Aces: Diego, Rafinha, Anderson, Lucas, Marcelo. Blinding football!

What a goal!!! Brazil women’s shows some great football against Nigeria.

It was a day for nice goals. The Brazilian women’s team played Nigeria today on the road to the Olympic title. Not only did Brazil win ( 3 -1 ) but it was really fine with me to wake up at 5am. Yes. Fine because I would wake up at any time to watch a match when you know you’ll see some great football.

The name of the game was Cristiane, who scored a beautiful bicycle goal. And the other one was Barbara, the Brazilian goalie, who kept a bunch of balls out of Brazil’s goal. Kudos to the ladies!

Today Brazil tested the Olympic squad. Coach Dunga seems to be doing a good job. With a great performance by Ronaldinho, who got to finally score after 9 months, Brazil beat the weak Singapore 3-1. They young Selecao created good plays and gave us, Brazilians, the feeling we can finally win the Olympic title - the only one we have never won.

But that is sort of our thing. Right before a major tournament we get all excited and positive.

But truth be told, the team was solid and Brazil did its job. Diego finally sparkled (!) with a very nice goal. Ronaldinho put the other one in and ex-Corinthians player, Jo, shook the net for the third time.

I think we are ready. I hope we are. Are we?

And clubs keeps fighting to keep key players off the Olympic games.

Truly a novel. Today I read all over the Brazilian news that Robinho is not going to join coach Dunga’s guys in Beijing. Real Madrid is saying the player is hurt and needs to have a good pre-season … I think that is just bullies. Now to add to the Robinho story, Argentina is in an arduous fight to keep Lionel Messi in the squad. The 21 year-old Argentinian phenomenon should be able to go without any problems (FIFA rules- he is under 23) but Barcelona is doing everything possible to keep him out of Chinese lands. Unfair? I think so…

Yep. AC Milan has vetoed Kaka’s trip to Beijing.

It is official. AC Milan has posted in its website an official note saying the club is not letting Kaka go to Beijing, to play for Brazil. That truly sucks. I think no matter what age players should be allowed to go to the Olympics. Here is what they said: “Following the news appeared today in Brazil concerning Kaká’s participation to the Olympics in Beijing, A.C. Milan reiterates its position by not allowing the player to join the Brazilian Olympic team. ” So shitty. Not cool.

Brazil has revealed its newest uniform inspired on the 1958 Seleção kit. The style will be used on the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers and the Olympic Games in 2008. The new uniform is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the first time Brazil ever won a world title.

The first of the five World Cup titles came in Sweden from the feet of Pelé, Vavá and Garrincha. My grandpa still gets excited when he speaks of that first title and says that football like that doesn’t exist anymore. And after that one, Brazil became unstoppable. 5 titles is always something good to celebrate, after all who else has 5 World Cup Titles?

The uniform has a unique design, breaking the norm of using the same design, with different colors, for every single team.

I personally find the new design very nice. It seems tighter to the body which makes it harder for opponents to grab you.

Brazilian team managed by WC 1994 players?

Brazilian coach, Dunga, and his ex-teammate Jorginho might be having another homey addition to the Seleção family: CBF president Ricardo Teixeira has announced that if Romario decides to quit playing, he will have a spot helping Dunga manage the Olympic team. Teixeira is responding to Dunga’s request of having his former 1994 Seleção teammate by his side.

Dunga, Jorginho and Romario were part of the 1994 World Cup team who broke the 24 year gap without any world titles. Jorginho played on the right mid, Dunga center mid and Romario was the goal man. Many people even say that he was the one who won that world cup for Brazil.

Now Romario doesn’t have a lot of experience coaching but he has done a good job on the one day he coached his own team, Vasco. But all in all, should be a good experience.

Now we have to watch out because Dunga might be soon hiring Taffarel, Mauro Silva, Branco and Bebeto!
