brazil_beach_soccer.jpgThe expected happened. Brazil easily beat newcomers Mexico and holds the title for the second consecutive year. In a beautiful game on the sands of Copacabana, Mexico could not even be said to have lost. The Mexicans made history after joining the Beach Soccer World Cup for the first time and reaching the finals.

Brazilian defender Buru (and also on of the top scorers) was elected Adidas Golden Ball and Golden Shoe and Brazil also picked up FIFA fair play award, taking everything they could win! Teammate Bruno played one of the most beautiful matches as Brazil showed the world how Beach Soccer should be.

Uruguay got the third place in an exciting match against France. The match finished 2-2 but the Celeste did better at penalty shoot-outs.

Now what? A lot of partying in Copabana and waiting for next tournament, in Marseilles, in July 2008, which should be as beautiful as the one in Rio.
