Barthez goes from grass to sand.

Fabien BarthezIt is very likely that Fabien Barthez will be the new goalie for the Beach Soccer French team. One of the finest of all, Barthez has been contacted by assistant coach Henri Emile. With an amazing career on classic football, I believe Barthez would make a fine addition to the French Beach Soccer squad. And after a retirement, a comeback and a second retirement, beach soccer looks like a good place for comeback #2.

After 2006 World Cup, the French goalie decided he wanted to go back and play for his first club Toulouse. Problem was Toulose didn’t really want him back, which ended up in retirement #1. Two months later, he signed with Nantes (comeback #1).

Wikipedia says “Barthez is rumoured to have been offered a six-month contract with the option of being extended another two years upon the end of the 2006-07 season. He also announced a possible international comeback, although France coach Raymond Domenech has yet to call him up as of March 2007.” How truthful that is I am not really sure.

Anyhow, on April 2007, Barthez announced retirement #2. And now, after rumors of a comeback #2 to Necaxa (Mexico) or LA Galaxy (Beckham Land), it seems like Fabien Barthez might switch grass for sand.

Do you think that is a good move?
