England is packing the smurfs to bid strong for 2018. Not only is the country well organized and with good infrastructure but is has royalty on its side: prince William. President of the Football Association and all time pretty boy. The 25 year old will be the ambassador of the program and will be showing his handsome (did I say that already?) face and good manners in Zurich in 2009, when the FA officially submits all bid documents.

I guess having the prince present at all events and as the head of the bid does make a difference in the eyes of FIFA. England has the good football structure and fan passion to its advantage but will be competing against countries which would benefit from the development of the game (such as China and Russia).

It will be an interesting “race” to watch. Unlike 2014, who had Brazil as the only candidate, 2018 might actually generate some butterflies in the stomach.
