Prince William and Beckham together on 2018 English bid?
By Ana on Dec 7, 2007 in 2018 World Cup
This happens every year: December comes, the leagues, friendly matches, and qualifiers are all on holiday. So most things we are left with are rumors, gossips and FIFA’s World Player fo the year award on December 17th. Today’s rumor goes to England’s 2018 World Cup bid. A couple of weeks ago, I commented on prince William’s force behind England’s bid. Now yesterday, I found out about one more player behind the English bid: Prince William has company. Beckham could be in.
Alright, let’s take baby steps. First, I never heard of prince William being out, that’s why I assumed partnership. But BBC was speculating that if the FA were to ask Beckham to be the face of the 2018 bid, he would most likely accept it (look at the verb tense). Here’s what they say:
“David Beckham would be willing to work as the official face of the Football Association’s 2018 World Cup bid if he is approached.”
“The former England captain, 32, worked as an ambassador to promote London’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympics. Beckham is yet to discuss any role with the FA but BBC Sport understands the governing body wants him on board and he would be happy to support it.”
Nobody is talking about prince William anymore? Of course not, we need a fresh and even hotter face to join the rumor list! But I do believe Beckham could greatly aid his country in getting 2018. Now if you put him and the royal William together it’s going to be a done deal (or disaster).
