Brazil 2014 FIFA World CupAfter a few weeks of already knowing that World Cup 2014 will be played in Brazil, today came the official announcement. Brazil will now have to work on a bunch of stuff and maybe this will be a good excuse to have the government actually do something about Brazilian cities instead of just promising and doing absolutely nothing.

It makes it hard for me to just think of a place to start. Here is a list that needs, in my opinion, radical change:

  • Security - Imagine Sao Paulo and Rio, which are already violent enough, full of visitors with money. The two cities are very spread out and it will be extremely hard to control, from big to small, robberies and violence. Do you think this is possible?
  • Transportation - Most cities have no subway to stadiums and people rely on old buses for transportation. Transit, especially in Rio and Sao Paulo is chaotic (when I say that I am not joking, you can stay 30 minutes stuck in traffic without moving 20 cms), so only with public transportation improvement can the cities sustain such a big event.
  • Protecting Argentina - Argentina will need extra security in order to keep safe from rivals Brazil. Brazil vs. Argentina can pick up a bloody good fight! As everyone says: “Argentina crying, I am laughing.”
  • Now there are, yes, positive things.

  • Beautiful places to visit - you cannot miss the beautiful beaches brazil has to offer. From north to south, Brazil is full of natural amazing places to go.
  • Lovely parties - lots of those down there. Don’t even need to worry… your night will be filled by cups and cups of by caipirinhas and batidas.
  • Friendly people - people are extremely friendly in Brazil. I bet a lot of Brazilians will try to speak your language in order to make you feel better. But beware of people who are too friendly and just want to take advantage of you!
  • All in all, we will see how all this develops.
