FIFA will “decide” if Brazil gets 2014

After years of preparation and a major effort to try to please as much as possible the FIFA delegation, Brazil will finally get something the country might not be able to sustain: a World Cup. On October 30th, Brazil will present the application to the FIFA committee in Zürich and one week after, FIFA will announce what everyone already knows: The 2014 World Cup will be played in Brazil.
I have to say that as a Brazilian this is great news to hear. But also as a Brazilian, I know that a World Cup played in Brazil will be lots and lots of chaos. Brazil doesn’t have any good transportation system to the stadiums or even proper security. Cities are spread around, making it harder to control everything.
The truth is, I truly hope that the government will be able to put everything together. Brazilian people always put all their hopes on the Brazilian Selecao. They forget all the bullshit from the government and the constant violence Brazil sees in everyday life. All for this one team who sometimes doesn’t even care to put some effort on the pitch (World Cup 2006 scenario).
The government and CBF have 7 good years to try to fix some things up. I guess if they don’t do it for people in politics, they might as well do it for football.
