Capello finalizes England’s squad.

England is down to the final 23 lucky footballers who will try and bring the Queen (with the help of the Italian general) the World Cup in South Africa. The biggest upset: Theo Walcott’s cut. I am not qualified to say whether he deserved the cut or not but the decision seems to be getting a lot of criticism. I’ll leave that to my English correspondent, who will report directly from his bike somewhere in middle America.

Here is the final squad:

Goalkeepers
Robert Green, Joe Hart, David James
Defenders
Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock
Midfielders
Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips
Forwards
Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney
