But what happened was that Maarten got injured and the Oranje was left wondering who to put in goal on the next round of matches for the World Cup Qualifiers. Solution: “Hey, Van der Saar, can you cut us some slack and cover for Maarty while he gets better?” And Van der Saar is such a nice person! So he will, even though he said he wouldn’t anymore.
